The first $1500 in value of a car is exempt from creditors. Most Chapter 7 filers can keep their cars
provided they can continue regular payments. o Household
goods: The first $3500 in household goods (furniture, clothing, etc.) is

q If you have exempt property a bankruptcy trustee sells it and distributes the money to your creditors. Any remaining unpaid debt is wiped out. If you don't have much property, you may get to keep what you have. Most Chapter 7 filers are considered “no asset” cases so no property is turned over to the trustee. q Some debts cannot be eliminated in Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
